10 Sydney eats worth hitting-  Part 1

By Chef Monty Koludrovic

Sydney eats is a fast evolving scene and it is easy to be distracted or caught up in the moment as new places pop up. This list has a few old favourites, which may have missed your gaze, and a few new and in utero projects, which, if you haven’t yet, you really gotta sink your teeth into or get ready to!

Cornersmith – Marrickville.
Cornersmith crew are true champions of local and sustainable produce. Nitrate free free-range ham with scotch eggs on an antipasto style brunch plate is hard to go past. The coffee is killer, the milk crates some of the comfiest in the business and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. These guys live the game and they play it damn well!

Brickfields – Chippendale
Relative newcomer to the Sydney bakery scene these guys have really announced their arrival with solid breakfast lunch options. The bread is legit; the bacon is the real deal and, well…. M-I-L-O Croissant!! That’s right MILO Croissant! If that isn’t a dead cert right there then go for the custard and date tarts.

3 Blue Ducks – Bronte
I think there is about 5 ducks now but don’t let that confuse the story. Coming from some of Sydney’s best top end restaurants these beach blokes have set up a unique patch on Macpherson st in Bronte which stretch out onto the footpath and down the road with planter boxes and herb gardens emanating from the rear garden. The food is healthy, delicious and nutritious delivered with generous helpings of COOL! Also Contenders for the best Bacon and egg Roll in Sydney, these sustainable soldiers walk the walk. While you’re there do yourself a favour and drop into Iggy’s for some bread.

No. 10 William – East Sydney
Short. Sharp. Simple. Delicious!
Daniel Pepperell has put together a sweet as wine bar eats line-up to compliment an interesting yet approachable juice list from the Fratelli Paradiso stables. Perfect for catch up bites and a glass or a settled in night with a big bowl of fresh pasta ragu. Scooping up the awards this place is a prime example of a space done right! Get in there. Do it.

Monopole – Potts Point
Brent savage + Casual Wine Bar = Sweet.
In part to solve a storage situation this little baby also provided a great space to be able to communicate some of the more eclectic options from the amazing Bentley restaurant Wine stores curated by Nick Hildebrandt. The food is unmistakably Savage-Clever yet wrapped in a different set of threads and going to a different type of party. Enjoy responsibly and not in moderation!
